What is the Paleo Diet!? [Infographic]
Over the past year or so there’s been a ton of activity in the nutrition blogosphere, mainstream news, and variety of other publications hyping up the benefits of what’s known as the Paleolithic a.k.a. “Paleo” diet. Honestly, it feels like some sort of nutrition cult…the amount of people who adamantly promote and swear by “paleo” is mind-blowing. Essentially the “Paleo” diet aims to replicate the diet of ancient hunters & gatherers, (i.e. cavemen and everyone else who lived in the time of the dinosaurs) and emphasizes eating only 100% natural foods and healthy fats that come from animals, the earth, etc.. Paleo limits your diet to pretty much only meat, fish, eggs, veggies, and nuts, and vehemently opposes grains, dairy, trans fats, and processed sugars. Although I’m 100% for a diet grounded on the basis of natural foods, high protein,...
Read MoreA Picture of HFCS and Obesity…or Two [Infographics]
High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is nasty…cut it out. Although the rise in obesity can’t solely be attributed to increased high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) consumption, there’s no doubt that HFCS has been one of the major factors. These sugars are not chemically identical and have much different effects on the body’s blood sugar levels. Most fruits have a relatively low glycemic index value (low glycemic index foods raise blood sugar levels at a slower rate). Even though they’re high in sugar,...

It’s incredible how ignorant America is when it comes to fast food and chain restaurant nutrition. The majority of food/drinks at Starbucks, PF Changs, Outback, Olive Garden, etc. are atrociously unhealthy, yet we continue to send money their way. We’ve got a fast food and chain restaurant epidemic…

Do you have any idea what’s really in the food you’re eating at a baseball stadium?
ESPN’s “Outside The Lines” exposed the extremely unhealthy conditions at many popular stadium concessions and restaurants. The full access look isn’t pretty, and makes you realize just how disgusting, gross, and unhealthy stadium food really is.
Misleading Trans Fat Labeling
Have you ever noticed that the majority of foods list “0 g of trans fat” on their nutrition labels? The majority of these foods do actually have trans fat, manufacturers simply aren’t required to list it.

Today I’m bringing you an uncharacteristically early Christmas gift (well, it’s my way of making up for my slackage)…a 9-for-1 holiday fitness gift guide extravaganza. Forget watches and chest straps…the nifty little device discreetly clips to your waistband, belt, pocket, etc. and is capable of accurately tracking # of steps, calories burned, stairs climbed, distance traveled, and exercise intensity. If you’re looking for something truly unique, cutting-edge, and straight up awesome this holiday season, the MOTOACTV by Motorola might be exactly what you’re looking for. It’s literally the only fitness gadget that’ll actually get ripped like the stud muffin on the front of the box. I have one and I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE it. Unlike most in-home pull up bars, with the Iron Gym Xtreme there’s no installation…no drilling holes in your door frame…AND it’s portable. In literally two seconds anyone can be set-up and ready to get shredded out of their mind-it snaps comfortably and securely on top of most standard door frames. How phenomenal is that!? It gets better… The Iron Gym Xtreme...
