5. Side Plank Hip Lifts

How To:

Protocol: 15 reps/side

Target Muscle(s): Obliques

Side Plank Hip Lifts are one of the top oblique exercises. They’re an upgraded version of the side plank that not only produces a strong isometric contraction, but adds a vertical lift.

  • (1) Move into side plank position. Stack your feet and prop yourself up on your elbow. You should form a flat bridge.
  • (2) Contract your abs and slowly drop your hips until they tap the floor.
  • (3) Pulse back up into a flat bridge, hold for 1 second at the top, and then repeat.

Do 15 reps per side.
